Bumblebee cake for the bumblebeegrad

My coworker once told me that eating a spoonful of local honey a day will cure me of allergies. With all the pollen in the air, I thought I'd take his advice by making a pure Californian honey chocolate cake. Adapted from Nigella Bites, this cake is sickeningly satisfying. I say this only because I know I'll make it over and over and over again - a nice thick slice with a cold glass of milk is just right for sunny afternoons.

A lot of the cake's sweetness come from the Californian wild mountain honey I used. The marzipan bees are yummy only if you love almond paste. I just know I wouldn't have made the cake if it weren't for the bees. How could I resist adding it to the Macarune menu? My next project is to make a 2-layer bumblebee chocolate cake with custard-filling.

A slice a day keeps the Dr. away
