September's gift to me

...was another chance to throw a MVPS :)

Somehow all the flavors ended up starting with the letter C. I didn't even plan it! C for cranberry. C for coffee. C for cracking good fun! As usual, here's a list with notes on each macaron flavor:
  • Caramel fleur de sel: Swirls of homemade buttery caramel rounds this flavor up nicely. And a dash of Spanish sea salt gives it the perfect kick. Sweet and salty. What's not to like?
  • Coconut passion fruit: A new tropical flavor on our menu. While toasted coconut adds texture to the shells, the airy passion fruit buttercream melts in your mouth in contrast. I love playing with textures!
  • CafĂ© avec Bailey’s: Another beverage-inspired flavor. Think a shot of Bailey's in your morning coffee. That's what this is. Just sweeter
  • Cookies + cream: Need I say more? :)
  • Cranberry white chocolate: Quite a crowd pleaser, just like the popular American cookie. The tart cranberry hidden within each piece offsets the milky sweet Valrhona white chocolate buttercream. This is a limited flavor that's dependent on my fast depleting supply of freeze-dried cranberries from the States
While I hadn't planned the alphabet C-theme, I did make sure to have a good mix of sweet, savory, tart and something unusual to this batch; something I'll be doing for most MVPS moving forward. I'm calling it the flavor wheel, round and complete.

Thanks for coming everyone! I really appreciate how you most of you gave feedback almost instantly. Always love hearing from you :)

Twenty-something non the wiser

I didn't put much thought to my birthday this year and half expected it to whiz by without satiation, much like the long weekend.

But of course, the darling bf did.

First he suggested spending Sunday out looking for anything and everything I ever wanted. Turns out, what I really wanted was to spend time with him :) So we created a wishlist and added a few things to it: a Miu Miu bag, Car Shoe riding boots, ruby red Kate Spade pumps, french toasts and waffles (I ♥ wishlists!). Then decided to settle with waffles. Yum!

When Monday came, a delivery of the silliest, like seriously SILLIEST, looking bouquet I've ever seen arrived bearing the note:

Zuk lei seng yat fai loh. hoi sum hoi sum
Ting yat sek Jaan, ye kar sek dim sum fah :)

From: Sei Bart Gong

In English, translated from fairly broken Cantonese, it read:

Wishing you a happy birthday. Happy. Happy.
Tomorrow eat Jaan. Right now eat dim sum flowers :)

From: Nosy person/more accurately, bastard (in so few words)

It made me laugh so hard, especially knowing that he went through much trouble drafting it. All this, followed by dinner at Jaan and a heart-shaped chocolate cake from one of my favorite bakeries in SG. The smallest gesture, yet sweetest ending to a lovely day.

When I asked the bf later why he chose the dim sum flowers, he said, "Dim sum was always our thing" and I had flashbacks of our SF days. Yes, dim sum was our thing.

Thanks love ♥

And a BIG thank you to everyone who called, texted, posted messages on my FB wall, pinged, wished, sang or shared a slice of cake with me. I'm so lucky to have had the chance to celebrate with you in some form or another :)

Love y'all to bits!

Paddlers Against Limits (P.A.L.S.)

Last weekend, we attended the SDBA-Auschamp 10km Race to watch the bf's sis paddle for the Paddler's Against Limits, P.A.L.S. team. Part of P.A.L.S.' mission is to raise awareness for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, A.L.S., the little-known disease that affected someone whom we miss dearly.

It was a nice overcast day with no rain. We sold some jerseys, gave away sunny blue balloons, cheered the team on and made a few friends. All in all, a spectacular time!

This makes me laugh every time

Say hello to my little friend!

Look!

That's my 3.1 Phillip Lim dress on Gilt! I got it last year in HK and have worn it a gazillion times since :) Ok, the dress obsession stops here. Time for some shuteye.

*Yawn*

Hearts

Recent steals:

Thread Social tulip print dress. Finally found it on Gilt! 60 whole % off! I was never gonna get it @$588 anyway. Happiest day of my week :)

Grey Ant corseted black party dress, which I've worn and LOVE. To bits

Tylie floral one-shoulder dress. I don't know what Tylie is. And the price tag was kinda steep at full price too. Though I figured I needed a treat and was going through an off-shoulder phase. So I got it

Twelfth St. by Cynthia Vincent belted dress with cuffed sleeves

Bobi jersey one-shoulder ruffle LBD

...and a ton of random tops from Hula & Co. Yes! I love one-size-fits-all affordable stores. Especially when everything's at $30 a piece. Now it's onto accessories ;)

Each one is filled with so much life and pretty little things, my heart swells. There's mad abundance of love and support for one another. For their loved ones. Just so much (too much!) love in general, I found myself in shades of red over some posts. And did I mention, such great bone structure??? They're all just beautiful!

The only part I couldn't relate to were the religious mentions. But agnostic me can still learn a lot... Enjoy the rest of your weekend folks! There's not much of it left. Did I say much again? Eep!
