Deep-fried yummies for the soul

The weather was nice this morning so I threw on my baseball cap and walked to the farmer’s market by the ferry building. After 40 mins of playing with puppies and checking out little babies by the Embarcadero, I finally got there. To my disappointment, the first thing I saw were rows and rows of huge navel oranges. “Dammit” I thought, I can’t eat those. By the way, I forgot to mention that while on medication, I can’t eat the following:

Oranges
Mangoes
Grapes
Watermelon
Any melon really
Coconut
Pineapple
Spicy food

Anything
cold
Fast food
Cabbage

Anything
sour
Leftovers
Tea

This prescribed diet left me with no choice but to sample cheeses at Cowgirl Creamery and lavender salt at the Eatwell Farms’ booth. That was until I saw the sign: “DEEP-FRIED ASPARAGUS.” Asparagus? Check. Deep-fried? Even better. No surprise I went and got myself a ($6) serving dashed with grated parmesan. Yum! It took only two bites before I lost my sense of taste again but hey, one can imagine the taste of asparagus right? A touring passerby amused by my unintentional act of inhaling these treats, offered to take a pic.
