Anticipation for more good things to come

Thanks for all your birthday wishes on Facebook, at work, through IMs and SMS.

I spent the eve of my birthday baking past midnight in preparation for the interview and taste-testing this Saturday. As I moved swiftly in the kitchen furiously whisking (yes, whisking with my Kitchenaid at 12AM. My neighbors must hate me) and wiping counter tops, the poor bf gently reminded me in soft whispers, "Hon, it's your birthday. It's your birthday." I ignored him partly annoyed that he hadn't helped out in the kitchen sooner but mostly in my focus to get things done ASAP.

Once the last batch of rose-scented macaroons came out of the oven, and I was scrubbed clean with my hair smelling of soap, the bf snuggled up next to me in bed and sang softly in my ear:

Happy Birthday to you
You were born in the zoo
There are monkeys and animals
And you look like one too!
Happy Birthday my turtle

There and then, I fell into deep slumber knowing that I can't ask for a better gift.

But of course, there are always better gifts. The bf got me a new Dell Inspiron laptop! The image below isn't mine exactly (the laptop's arriving early October) but it should look the same. I'm SO excited. Thanks hon! You're a gem.




I got a new outfit from Marc by Marc Jacobs last night, and am anticipating a few good books and a Generra dress in the mail. Sigh. Nothing like consumerism to celebrate.
