Where we went to start the year
...and more interestingly, what we did while we were there.
Stole some horns from Muse after counting down at Lounge18 on the Bund
Queued up for the yuckiest snack that smelled like garbage and tasted probably like garbage had I tried that before
Sat on each other given the chance
Stood in the way of other people's photos
...more often than we're proud of
Took a stab at Hanyu pinyin
Posed in bathtubs, fully dressed
Had takeout in our hotel room on the 31st of Dec
"Drank" tea from the spout
Left a mark in Starbucks at the Yuan Gardens
Looked angry and complained half the time
Looked stupid the other half of the time
Had roast geese HK style
Sampled Pierre Hermé's old and new flavors at a hole-in-the-wall restaurant
Lunched at Cépage

Shanghai was polluted, dirty, and icky family fun. HK was the usual indulgent food fest with money well spent. Though the latter trip was cut short due to an important event, it won't be long before I return. This time, with the bf.
Thanks Randy for providing recos and taking us out NY's eve! That really made the night!
And of course, a big thanks to Suen who shared my love for facial masks and desserts in the comfort of her couch. That's pure bliss.
Not forgetting AC who so kindly brought back Pierre Hermé macarons from Paris and taking me out for Yung Kee pei dan. I ♥ you!

Current love
To the bf:
I kiss you on the brain in the shadow of a train
I kiss you all starry eyed, my body's swinging from side to side
I don't see what anyone can see, in anyone else
But you
Here is the church and here is the steeple
We sure are cute for two ugly people
I don't see what anyone can see, in anyone else
But you
To the best friend:
Up up down down left right left right B A start
Just because we use cheats doesn't mean we're not smart
I don't see what anyone can see, in anyone else
But you
To little sisters:
You are always trying to keep it real
I'm in love with how you feel
I don't see what anyone can see, in anyone else
But you
To big sister:
We both have shiny happy fits of rage
You want more fans, I want more stage
I don't see what anyone can see, in anyone else
But you

In memory of ALHC
To say last week was a whirlwind of events is an understatement. While I would normally describe everything that ensue in detail, this time I feel it's right to let things rest and just take comfort in the quiet.
We miss you uncle. With each passing day, we will continue to miss you more. You left behind a beautiful family with equally beautiful memories of you, which will never be forgotten. While I, a recent addition to your life, wish I had known you better, I'm glad I know you enough to say that I too have a handful of memories that will be treasured, like a pretty flower meant to be dried and kept forever.

It's a sad day
My deepest condolences to the bf and family who lost someone very dear to them today.
Dearest Uncle Albert,
You were a loving father, doting husband and all in all a kind and caring man. I know I've said this many times before but I can't say it enough. Thanks so much for making Chris who he is today. And more importantly, as I now realize, for accepting me as part of your family. You will be sorely missed.
Lots of love,
Danielle
